Water of Life

Oh man...

Finally there is water flowing up to the water tank.

It has been five days where there's no water flowing into the toilets, which is supplied by the water tank. Only the pipe at the basin, which is supplied directly from the main source, has it.

It has been five days of hell without the water. Usage of water is restricted to the basin at the kitchen. Drastic situation requires equally drastic measures. I have to rely solely on it for drinking, cooking, washing and bathing... even have to fill a pail up several times a day so to be used in the toilet.

It has been five days of hell calling up the owner and the plumber to do something about it.

Oh, and thanks so much for leaving me alone in this rented house, as all of you "very dear" housemates left for your hometowns during the weekends.

As it turned out, one of you had the main stopcock turned off. It's indeed very nice of you to do that.

I was coming down from a flyover. She was seemingly coming to a stop at a junction, which intercepts the main road.

Seeing that she has kids on board, one would expect her to drive more safely. BUT NO!! While I was coming down from the flyover, she speed up. We almost collide. I barely had time to whirl to the opposite lane, and made an emergency break, to avoid her. Aren't my warning honks loud enough? Must I install an amplifier on top of my car?

Damn, I hate it when people talk with the phone when driving. I have encountered two today and they nearly hit my car!

Third is when they drive with one arm dangling out of the window, with a cigarette in the hand!

I hope they would all drop into a monsoon drain. I won't wish for more.

... and looking like it. At least, only the kitchen looks like it had been ransacked.

So I am back to my rented apartment. Dust on everywhere is to be expected... since it was abandoned for two months. Grade A marvelous: One of my housemate defrosts the fridge yesterday and, just as I was about to pack the perishables into it, the lower levels were flooded with water dripping from the freezer. -_-

After a refreshing bath it's natural to sit before the laptop and hook it up to the net. So here I am lounging at a few sites when I am supposed to be in the process of completing the reports. It is already half an hour past midnight... oh, crap.

OMG Why didn't I notice Assassin's Creed before? Moons ago I was mad about these two PC games: Morrowind III: The Elder Scroll, and Thief II: Deadly Shadows. Too bad my laptop couldn't support such games. I could only barely play Morrowind...

And now there comes Assassin's Creed!! Me wants to play!!

Sometimes I wonder if all I have done in the past few years is worth the effort. Such a depressing thought...

Class is starting again next week. :(

Watched Bruno (The lead-actor? Think Borat.) and Grandma's Boy this evening. Bruno, the movie, is... *smacks head*. No wonder it's not shown on the cinema.

Sister is getting back to being herself, slowly. At least now she is thinking of getting a job. I do wish she finds a decent one soon... and she's thinking of starting afresh "southwards". And so we plan to watch yet another movie (that which contains the word Meatball) tomorrow morning, before she travels down to the City of Lion the following day.

Silent Hill

It was one chilly, late evening (it was raining outside) that I found my brother's PS2 in the hall. Everything was set, one only need to switch on the power and insert the desired disc to start playing. Amid the scattered discs, most of which were Final Fantasy, I found one Silent Hill. Curious... where did I hear of it before? So, innocently, I played. About an hour later with my character was still stuck in that damnable hospital I existed from game... to the amusement of my brother, who had earlier sat down beside me to watch.

*****

This is what happened when I ran out of a proper place to keep my toys. So I left these two to guard over my sister's perfume collection. Much to her annoyance. At least I opted out Wreck-gar...

Selective started last week. That means waking up early in every weekdays... This is totally not the ideal holiday I had in mind. Three more weeks to go. *grumbles*

There and Back Again: A Chiang Mai Trip

  • Sep. 25th, 2009 at 10:28 PM
A Fairy
My family and I have spent the last whole week spring cleaning the entire house. If spring cleaning includes cleaning the house and painting everything. By everything I mean every inches in and out of the house, excluding the roofs. And we finally had the old, leaking water tank removed. The days almost always ended with paint on our clothes and aching muscles from moving the furnitures - out they went, the old ones (most of them literally falling to pieces from our effort to move them), and into the house the new ones.

We barely had time to recuperate when someone suggested an oversea holiday. And, since the holidays almost had me bored out of my sanity, I gladly followed the excitement. And, after some annoying paperworks, we finally flew towards Chiang Mai on one fine Monday morning.

*****

Chiang Mai Trip

I was so nauseated on the plane. I did not feel this terrible while aboard MAS two years ago... Are all AirAsia planes like this? Or am I getting too old to fly?

Side note: Okay, so I admit I have watched too much TF cartoons. I have forgotten how big a plane really is. I was in awe, silently. I was equally delighted that my sister - she almost had me jumping around the departure lounge - who abhors my new found hobby of watching the TF cartoons, suddenly exclaimed: Aerobots!

We put much emphasis on the Thais' culture, including the food. We followed our tour guide closely around the place. The road signs were in Thai language, most of the people speak Thai. If not for the tour guide, and some of those locals who speak Mandarin, we were seriously lost in this foreign land. About the food, we were slightly disappointed when most of the food prepared at the restaurants were tamed. Not too spicy, in consideration of the tourists who could not stomach such food.

It was a four days and three night trip. And on the third day of the trip we set foot on two other countries. Three countries in one day: Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. So, we stopped at the Golden Triangle, the formerly known main illicit opium-producing area; however, the poppy plantation was converted to tea and coffee plantations many years ago... lol and I was expecting to see real poppy flowers. We then sailed along the Mekong river to Laos. I felt like a pirate upon landing. xD

Bought a new pen drive while aboard the homeplane. It totally caught my attention and I had to buy it. I took a photo of it and would love to show it here, but for some unknown reason it couldn't be read on this computer. :(

It feels so strange to finally coming back to my own country, stepping on its soil... and seeing the freshly painted and newly decorated house, and, not to mention our pet dogs rushing to the gate all barking, whining and eager to be hugged.
A Fairy
It's good to be back at my hometown. No internet... BUT IT'S OK!! For the first time since the past one year, I am able to read something that is not academically related. Currently reading the Silence of the Lamb. If I am able to finish it - there are too much distractions back at home to be sure - I am hoping to finish the next book, Hannibal, as well.

Elective starts next week. Selective starts the month after. So, though it says that I have two months worth of holiday, it's a well-planned holiday. *sighs* But I really wanted to visit Bali, Bangkok, Taiwan and Perth!

Watched UP with sister yesterday. Nice... I also enjoyed the first 15-minute clip. It's hilarious. Only, there were two things which irked me. No.1: I couldn't believe someone would be so daring as to leave the ring tone on and answer the phone call... not to mention in a clear, loud voice! No.2: Please refrain from bringing your precious young ones to the cinema when they are obviously still too young to understand that the world is not only about them themselves. Courtesy, ladies and gentlemen.

Later we went for some shopping. Pure indulgence.

... and now is the waiting. The official results will out on Friday morning. What am I supposed to do during the days in between today and Friday? I know! I should to watch G.I. Joe this evening... despite of the bad comments thrown at it. :F

*****

I have been reading "The Gift" by Ennya. And this is the result of spending the whole afternoon on a sketch dedicating to this fiction. It's, err... not quite child friendly. But I guess I did quite well in "censoring" the most vital parts. Anyway, you have been warned.

*****

EDIT: Just came back from the cinema.

Man, the movie is all speeding, shooting, swimming... well, not quite swimming, but there is lots of water, to be sure. And thick layers of snow and ice. And sand. Oh, I just love the speeding, both on bike and on foot... I think this is the one part which attracted me to the film. Overall, it is fast-paced; it's quite confusing at first as I was still trying to know who is who. The flash-backs are alright... I think it is somewhat hilarious to have a supposedly pure home-land grown Japanese to speak English thick with American accent.

There is so much more to say about the film! But I should stop before I give out too much spoilers.

*****

EDIT: I know I should be sleeping. 'Sides, I had only 4 hours max of sleep for the past two days... Anyway, muse is bursting through my eyes and this is the result --> Death Note

I found this test from [info]optical_nerve ... and I sort of expected this result. :P

... since now that I am free, not that I have nothing better to do *look dreadfully at the monstrous stacks of notes and textbooks yet to go though within a week*

There is a man, a neighbor, who would walk out from his house every 8am, I assume, to the bus stop, and walk back at 10:30pm, everyday. He wears light, former clothing and carries a small briefcase. I wonder if he would be drenched in sweat by the time he reach the stop. And what if it rains? ... which reminds me, my car is in need of a wash.

Another neighbor, the one right beside my rented house, took the liberty to uproot a stunted tree and plant fancy scrubs and flowers. I wouldn't be complaining - I hardly care what people do on their leisure time - only if she would not leave the burnt, ex-stunted-tree's ashes right in front of my door steps.

P.S. Damn, I should be studying. But shopping, though only for groceries, is so fun.

As I was resting on the bed, looking up at the ceiling, and counting my days before the exams recalling the things I had revised the whole day, I saw a bug flew into my room and up... up... and got caught in a massive spiderweb on the ceiling that I didn't bother to sweep off.

Interestingly, the spider - which I had been observing for the past few months - has been spinning its web over the bug for at least an hour and a half... and counting. The toughest part is the waiting. I give it that it's extremely patient; now, it's very hardworking. :3

Since watching the Transformers G1 series - and thus refreshes the long-buried childhood memories - and "accidentally" discovering how and what Starscream is being depicted by fan-girls all over the globe, I would say...

Wait. I don't know what to say.

The cartoons:
I have a particular soft spot for Starscream. You will know what I mean if you have seen the cartoon series. And, by the way, the first three episodes are stand alone. So, I would recommend watching them if you have the time to spare. Coming back to Starscream... well, what can I say? He is SHAMELESS!! But, I still find him adorable - *cough* - dispite his short comings, which actually make him all the more lovable.

The movies:
And, I almost squel in delight in the cinema on those three long scenes of Starscream and Megatron in Revenge of the Fallen. The movie Starscream is... ah, that is another lengthy story for another time.

The comics:
Where was I? Oh, I particularly  love how Starscream is "blushing" at Megatron in the comic series called Transformers: Megatron Orrigin. Well, he is not actually blushing AT Megatron, only the colorings were a bit off, creating the unintendded, however heart-warming, effect.

Take a look for yourself:

Isn't he adorable? ^_^
